New to the world of kayaking, here are my favorite places to take my kayak, Perry!
- Pheasant Branch conservancy (from Lake Mendota)
- Yahara river (Lake Waubesa to Mud Lake)
- Lake Wingra
- Lake Monona
- Six mile creek (from Lake Mendota)
- Lake Mendota
- Capitol Springs Recreation Area (Lake Farm Park- Lake Waubesa, to Gilligan’s Island in Yahara River)
- Witch Kayak, Launching from Tenney Park
Pheasant Branch Conservancy
Started at Mendota County Park on Lake Mendota then went up the creek. Beautiful scenery, wildlife, and fairly quiet!
Six Mile Creek
Started at governor Nelson state park on Lake Mendota and went up the creek. Was quiet, but still felt very lake like since its so wide at the beginning points, so not a lot of wildlife or unique views. Its also a bit of distance from any lake entry point which I did not enjoy.
Witch Kayak- Yahara River from Tenney Park
Once a year, join witches and warlocks to kayak, paddle board, or canoe, down yahara river for halloween fun! I loved seeing the kids costumes and passing out candy along the bank! Look for announcements on instagram for next years dates and times!
